Shimayui Farm Co.,Ltd.
Located on Yoron Island, a remote island in Kagoshima, the re-fattening of mother wagyu had been limited due to distribution and transportation costs, resulting in low market prices. In response, local young producers took the initiative. By providing Jukuho Farm’s fattening techniques and TMR, they launched a mother wagyu fattening project. We support these producers in their challenge to sustain and develop wagyu production, a major industry on the island.
Japan Livestock Export Promotion Consortium
The COVID-19 pandemic caused a surge in food loss as ingredients lost their usual markets, prompting a growing awareness of SDG goals such as “responsible production and consumption.” In response to these shifting values, we are promoting the use of re-fattened mother wagyu.
The consortium, composed of Ginkakuji Onishi Co., Ltd., Daikei Co., Ltd., and Jukuho Farm Co., Ltd., aims to elevate the value of mother cows—essential for calf production—from “cull cows” to “table meat.” This fulfills the principle of responsible production and contributes to sustainable practices in the livestock industry.
By exporting mother wagyu, which previously had not been supplied for export, we are creating a new category for Japanese beef exports. This not only raises global recognition of sustainable initiatives in the Japanese livestock industry but also generates new standards of quality and commitment, helping to build a new global food value chain.
Jukuho Bond Group
At Jukuho Farm, we collaborate with farms in the Kyushu region—including Kagoshima, Saga, Kumamoto, Nagasaki, and Miyazaki—that focus on fattening mother wagyu. Through this partnership, we share accumulated techniques and information to improve cattle raising. By working together with these cooperative farms, we can ship more mother wagyu with high-quality meat, helping to elevate the overall value of mother wagyu.
